"Cooling the Books"

I infrequently post about global warming because the topic is just sad. It has corrupted parts of the science to which I have devoted my career.

Here is just the latest example. Like NASA before them, NOAA is cooling the temperature record in the mid-20th century to make today's temperatures seem more extreme.

That is not the only example of climate nonsense this past week.

Via Dr. Roger Pielke, Sr., we learn that lawyers are going to learn to sue over the supposed increased disasters due to global warming. From the promotional brochure:

There is so much wrong here, I hardly know where to start. Let's take hurricanes. Every passing day sets a new hurricane record: The longest the U.S. has ever gone without being stuck by a major hurricane! World hurricane activity is at near-record low levels (graph below): 

There is no upward trend in tornadoes or other disasters due to global warming. Global warming has nothing to do with oil spills, earthquakes, and volcanoes.
